You, you'll already be on the adventure.

Ultimate is the most prestigious category of the Lone Rider Trophy by Tom Barrer. It's for travellers who leave home on their motorcycle and for whom the road to the Trophy is fully part of the experience.

No engine size restriction. Small or big bike, what matters is what you're ready to live with it. You have a 4-day window to leave home and reach the start, but this year simply making the journey won't be enough!

New this year! Welcome to STAGE 0

Carte du Stage 0 : départs possibles partout en Europe, 47 waypoints

STAGE 0 — THE JOURNEY COUNTS. SO DO THE DETOURS.

This year, I thought simply having you ride to ????? was a bit too easy… So I had some fun hiding 47 waypoints across Europe, spread over lots of different routes.

Don't even try: it's impossible to collect them all in four days! You'll have to make choices, build your route and decide which detours are worth the trip.

None of them is hard to reach. You might discover a great restaurant or a magnificent viewpoint, or stop over at a friend's hotel. Because that's what motorcycle travel is about too: beautiful roads,

chance encounters and places you'd otherwise have ridden straight past. But don't get too distracted: every waypoint earns points, and this Stage 0 will count towards the ULTIMATE ranking. So by the time you reach ?????, you'll already have started writing your ranking.

I'll tell you more when the time comes. For now, you already know enough. 😉

ULTIMATE DOESN'T MEAN BLACK IS MANDATORY.

Your category tells the story of how you get to the Trophy. The colours define the level of commitment of the routes offered during the event.

The prestige of Ultimate doesn't force you to choose the hardest option. Knowing how to adapt your choices to your level, your bike and your fatigue is essential to being a good traveller.

🟢 GREEN — ACCESSIBLE TRAVEL

Mostly roads and very easy trails. To enjoy the journey, the scenery and the Trophy experience without looking for technical difficulty.

🔴 RED — TYPICAL TRAILS AROUND THE WORLD

Trails representative of what you meet when travelling the world by motorcycle. Varied terrain, with the everyday difficulties of off-tarmac travel.

EVERY ENGINE SIZE. NO EXCUSES.

In Ultimate, there's no engine size restriction: any bike can do the job. Each has its advantages… and its own way of making your life complicated!

The big old girls are comfortable on long road sections and on the road in general. But when the terrain gets technical, their weight and size demand serious skill to keep taking them where you've decided to go.

The little buzzers are the exact opposite: light, agile and at ease in technical terrain. On the other hand, when the road miles pile up, the journey can quickly turn into a punishment for the rider.

And the mid-size bikes? They try to take the advantages of both sides… but also bring along some of the drawbacks! It's all about compromise.

The perfect bike doesn't exist. It's up to you to know yours, make the most of its strengths and work around its limits. That's also part of being a complete traveller.

🦄 BLACK — READY FOR ANYTHING

Broken-up trails, demanding navigation, or even fast, flowing trails over a very large number of miles.

So Black doesn't only mean "more technical". The commitment can of course come from the terrain, with difficult sections, but also from navigation, distance, or all three combined. You'll need to know how to ride, think, manage your energy and make the right decisions.

So, ready to take on the best traveller on the planet?
