The Explorer category is for anyone who wants to live the Lone Rider Trophy by Tom Barrer adventure to the full, without taking part in the rankings.

Every day, EXPLORERS get a full GPS track from start to finish.
The difficulty matches the green level --> mostly tarmac with some easy off-road sections!
No chasing points, no strategy: just good times, miles and stunning scenery, from bivouac to bivouac!
Explorers share the landscapes, the bivouacs, the atmosphere and the big moments of the Trophy, but with more freedom and none of the pressure of competition.

You leave home on your motorcycle with your luggage to reach the starting bivouac! We'll give you the route and some nice spots to pass through, but be aware that no assistance is provided for this journey!
You can reach the starting bivouac however you like, whether with your motorcycle in the truck or by plane, and we'll take your motorcycle with you so you can enjoy the 7 days of the trophy in EXPLORER mode.
The Explorer category was designed for those who dream of living the Trophy adventure but don't want to spend their week counting points, hunting waypoints or working out a ranking strategy.
Here, the goal is different: ride, travel, discover and enjoy.
Every day, you get a full GPS track designed to stay accessible, mostly on roads and easy trails.
You move at your own pace, enjoy the scenery, stop whenever you feel like it… and every evening you reach the same bivouacs as the other participants.
But be warned: Explorer doesn't mean a guided tour.
You're still on your bike, with your luggage, facing the road, the weather, the miles and the little surprises that make real journeys.
We make the navigation easier. Not the adventure.
ULTIMATE CATEGORY CHANGE
Ultimates, we’re raising the bar a notch!
01To be part of the categoryNothing changes: you still just have to leave from home on your motorcycle and reach the start within the allotted number of days.
02New: starting points in EuropeFor people coming from a transatlantic or other distant country, it is now possible to take part in this category: they will be able to leave from certain “starting points” in Europe to reach the start of the Trophy.
03The journey becomes Stage 0Even though riding to the start is enough to be part of this category, this journey now becomes Stage 0! In other words, it will count in the Ultimate category ranking.
0447 waypoints hidden across EuropeHow will it work? It’s very simple: 47 waypoints will be hidden all over Europe (impossible to do them all!). They will be more or less difficult to reach and will therefore earn more or fewer points.
But be careful!On this Stage 0, you are more than ever in real life. The organisation will follow you by GPS, but no assistance vehicle, medical or satellite, will be present. You are therefore truly self-sufficient, and let me remind you that nothing is compulsory on the Trophy: it’s up to you to make your own choices and take responsibility for the consequences! Of course, in the event of a serious problem, the SOS button on your beacon will be active and we will send the local emergency services. But if that happens, it’s a big mistake on your part! Whatever the circumstances, we ALWAYS share some responsibility in an accident!
